How much do you know?

Dear Neighbour,

After two months of studying Hermeneutics (the science and art of Biblical interpretation), I felt quite depressed. Not only was it a a very challenging subject, but I did not feel as though I was benefiting from all my hard work. However, everything changed when I read this statement by Virkler in my notes: “You do not truly possess knowledge until you are walking in the light of that knowledge”…

My problem was that I had a lot of head knowledge, but no experience in application! As soon as I began tackling my major assignment that required me to apply what I had learned, everything began to fall into place. This has been a valuable lesson for me and one that I think is worth sharing with you.

The Bible is a gift from God. However, we cannot approach it in the same way we read other books. The Bible was not given to you so that you could know a lot of INFORMATION – it has been given so that you might experience a TRANSFORMATION. There are people from every generation who have dedicated their lives to studying the Bible. They have amassed huge amounts of information and are considered Biblical ‘experts’ – but it has all been in vain if they have never APPLIED the Word of God to their lives and been transformed.

There is a very good reason why the BIBLE stands for…Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. If you fail to HEAR and RESPOND to God’s inviation of salvation, you will suffer the consequences for all of eternity. Believe me, you need to KNOW God personally.
