The Greatest Teacher In The World

Dear Neighbour,

One of my greatest desires in life is to remain teachable. Today I was inspired to read about a Durban North lady who has just published her first book at the age of 94! She proves that we are never too old to accomplish something new or to follow a new direction.  An elderly person once told me that she could never accept Jesus Christ as her Saviour because, in her words, “It would be like admitting I was wrong all my life”. Becoming set in our ways and thoughts is like an early death to our souls.

The Holy Spirit is the Greatest Teacher in the world.  You may be surprised to know that He is as close to you as the breeze blowing on your face. This is how Jesus explained the coming of the Holy Spirit to His followers: Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you (John 16:7). The Holy Spirit, also called ‘The Helper’, is the third person of the trinity and He is the Most Important Person in the world today. On Pentecost Sunday, the 27th May, Christians celebrate His coming into the world as recorded in the first chapters of the book of Acts. Pentecost is exactly 50 days after Easter Sunday, the day that Jesus rose from the dead.

 Like the wind, we cannot see the Holy Spirit but His effect is felt in the lives of people all over the world. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment;

…of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to bring you to a point of decision, a conviction?  The GREATEST SIN is not murder but UNBELIEF! To reject Jesus is sin.  The Holy Spirit will help you to believe and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

…of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; The Holy Spirit will teach you that your own righteousness cannot qualify you for heaven. God doesn’t want us to stand before him as pardoned criminals.  Jesus died so that your sins could be taken away from you but JESUS ROSE TO ADD TO YOU HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, as well. Wearing Christ’s robe of righteousness it is possible to have as much right to be in heaven as Jesus has!

…of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (John 16:9-11)

Satan, the ruler of this world, has ALREADY been judged and his fate is sealed. We, too, have ALREADY been judged ‘GUILTY’.  You will not be given a trial.  God has already declared you guilty and the sentence of death has already been passed.  Unlike Satan, you have the opportunity to receive a FREE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE.  The Holy Spirit is saying to you, “Accept the gift because you are already guilty”.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.(The Message)

My question to you, friends, is whether you have allowed the Holy Spirit to teach you about Jesus Christ?  Have you felt the effect of the Holy Spirit in your life?  Like Jesus, the Holy Spirit is a gentleman.  He gently blows and waits for you to respond.  He is the Greatest and Gentlest Teacher you will ever know.
