Do you ever feel like you are on auto-pilot? You drive to your local supermarket but don’t remember how you got there! My greatest concern is that many of us live our lives that way.
God has a word for you today: Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light (Ephesians 5:14). Is it possible that you are a sleepwalker – functioning but not fully awake to God? Imagine God taking you by the shoulders and saying, “Awake, you who sleep.” Are you ‘in the dark’concerning the things of God? …Next, He looks into your eyes, calls you by name and commands your lifeless spirit, “Arise from the dead..” At your physical death you need a spirit that is alive to take you directly into God’s presence… “And Christ will give you light.” Jesus wants to take you out of darkness and the best way to do that is to give you His light. God’s heart is to completely restore everything you have lost and to make you walk in abundance. No-one loves you as much as He does. Why sleep in the dark when you can walk in the light? … it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. (Romans 13:11,12)
The alarm clock has gone off…wake up!…wipe the sleep from your eyes…discard your sinful night-clothes and put on Jesus Christ! It is a new day.
